WordPress Plugin directory - Gone! As with many of my projects, my Wordpress XML Sitemap Plugin started as something for one of my own websites as there were some serious limitations with using other plugins for effective SEO. Even today XML Sitemap offerings for Wordpress are limited. Since then my plugin went from strength to strength gathering more users. In early 2021 I re-wrote a large part of the plugin to improve maintainability and extensibility as it had become a bit “organic”.

New Wordpress Sitemap Plugin v2.0.5 After a period of quiet I have released a new version of our plugin. Initially this was version 2.0.4 but following a critical bug 2.0.5 was released to hot fix this issue. In hindsight, this should have been 2.1.0 due to the number of code changes. Sorry to those who were impacted by this issue. It slipped the net during testing and is part of the reason for this blog.

Wordpress Sitemap Plugin Update (2.0.2) We’ve finally got around to updating our WordPress plugin addressing a number of bugs which have prevented some people from upgrading without workarounds. Again, we’re sorry it has taken so long, this is due to juggling various priorities and personal issues. The Ultimate WordPress XML Sitemap Plugin We’ve released a number of versions of our Wordpress Plugin over the years, but recent developments have seen some key architectural changes to simplify development and add some of the frequently requested features, making version v2.0 our ultimate Wordpress XML sitemap plugin. Key new features in this release include: XML Sitemap Index page Image XML sitemap support News XML Sitemap support Improved performance NOTE: Some users are reporting issues with the sitemap index file giving a 404 / redirecting to the homepage.

Wordpress 5.5 supports XML sitemaps With the release of Wordpress 5.5 there are some interesting new developments included. Not least Version 5.5 of Wordpress includes support for XML sitemaps, a long overlooked feature and the reason for many sitemap plugins existing, including ours. While the new feature will serve many users with a basic XML sitemap need, you might want to stick around to learn why this new feature might not be suited to your SEO needs.

New Wordpress Plugin version released An update to our Wordpress plugin is long overdue, but finally it is here with some fixes and a few popular requests implemented. We’ve updated our testing to ensure that version 1.3.5 of the plugin works with the latest version of Wordpess (5.4) as well as remaining backwards compatible as before. Customise sitemap filenames One of the most requested features was the ability to customise the sitemap file names.

What has been happening? First of all we’re sorry we’ve been quiet for a while. The service is very much run on a volunteer basis and some sometimes other priorities take over. We rely on the support of our community and advertising revenue which of late has decreased due to stricter rules on the use of personal data. We thank you for your continued support. What’s new? We’ve updates our WordPress plugin having tested it for the most recent version of wordpress as well as publish a new version 1.

Latest bug fixes We’ve recently made a number of smaller changes to address bugs and issues in G-Mapper and Wordpress. G-Mapper Fix : Cancel button on settings page not working. Fix : After correcting a setting the validation errors don’t clear. Fix : Editing modified date causes crash Fix : Editing row makes and item excluded. Fix : Updating help links. Fix : Updated to latest spider engine to resolve image sitemap issues.

Our best Wordpress sitemap plugin yet It’s been a while since we updated our sitemap generator plugin for wordpress so we were pleased to be able to announce version 1.3.0 being ready for general release earlier this week. We’ve always prided ourselves on being the best Wordpress Sitemap plugin when it comes to flexibility including : Supporting HTML, RSS and Google XML Sitemap formats.
